Certified Nurse Practitioner
When Amber Halverson began her career as a nursing assistant at age 18, she quickly discovered her love for working with geriatric patients.
“My heart has always been in geriatrics,” she says. “I love developing relationships with patients, learning about their past, and also getting to know their families.”
That passion led Amber to become an RN in 2010, her BSN in 2013, and to complete her doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Minnesota in 2018. She is Board Certified as an Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner.
As one of Consultative Health’s newest nurse practitioners, Dr. Halverson brings vast experience at all levels of geriatrics, including patient safety. And while her education and experience gives her a perspective into the larger systems that support continuous improvement and quality patient care, she is ultimately focused on the people she cares for, each day.
“From playing a role as patient advocate, to helping patients fulfill their wishes at every stage of care – it’s all important, “ she says.
Amber was drawn to Consultative Health and Medicine by its family-like culture of teamwork and support. She also notes how the Consultative Health care model, focused on continuous communication and collaboration with patients, families, and facility staff, allows her to take the time to provide personalized care to every one of her patients.
When she is not caring for patients, Amber enjoys spending free time camping, fishing, and playing softball and volleyball. With her doctorate studies complete, she looks forward to playing more piano, learning acoustic guitar, Texas line dancing, and knitting. Amber, her husband and their dog live in the northwest Twin Cities.
