Kate Chies, APRN, CNP

Kate Chies knew she was destined be a nurse, from a very young age. And for some unique reasons. “As a small child, I liked being in hospitals. I even liked the way they smelled,” she says.

When she became a teenager pursuing her first job, Kate worked at a local nursing home in both the laundry and dietary areas. Knowing she wanted to make her way into direct patient care, she acquired her certified nurse’s assistant license, and went on to become a registered nurse.

Drawn by both the science and intensity of caring for high acuity patients, Kate spent a number of years working in an ICU, where she helped patients recovering from open heart surgery. When she became a nurse practitioner, she shifted her focus to provide geriatric and cardiology care.

“What I really value are my relationships with geriatric patients and families in both long-term care and assisted living. Helping them live their best life, manage chronic conditions, and really honoring their life goals.”

She joined Consultative Health and Medicine in September 2021, and is excited to contribute to the practice’s mission.

“Consultative Health is doing great things – its actions align with the words of its vision.”

When she is not working with patients, Kate, her husband, and two children love to travel, enjoy hosting get-togethers with friends and family, and spend time hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
